Our Foundation
The Foundation was started in 1994 by Vasile Nitu in Canada to help needy Romanian students achieve a higher level of education and offer lifetime guidance. The Foundation is named after Constantin Mircea Dan, an engineering student of professor Vasile Nitu in Romania. After his premature death in 1990, his parents, Florentza and Liviu Constantin, founded the Romanian Foundation carrying his name.
Our Foundation raises funds to aid Romanian youngsters who are orphans, handicapped or in financial need to achieve their full potential and become independent citizens of the new Romania. The proceeds are distributed to carefully selected young Romanian students. Since the start of its activities in 1994, the Foundation reached students in need in collaboration with the Romanian Foundation Constantin Mircea Dan. Since 2007 the Foundation provides funds to orphan children towards school expenses and scholarships, bursaries and awards. These children are in the care of AGAPE Foundation in Romania.
The Foundation is a Registered Charity and issues tax receipts for all donations received.

Foundation AGAPE Romania
The Foundation for Children “Agape” is a Christian organization having as a primary purpose to create a family environment for children without families, helping them have a relevant and integrated life in society. Agape believes that all children have the right to be helped in overcoming the critical moments in their lives so that their sincere smile may not be overshadowed.
Agape was founded by a group of people with opened hearts who started by building a generous and modern place to meet the children’s needs. The whole process lasted about 4 years and was finished in 1994. The building has an area for the orphans or children without a family environment and an area for the kindergarten with a normal 4 hour program and a longer 8 hour program. The idea of putting together these two areas came from the desire to avoid the isolation of the orphans and the stigma that could arise from this isolation.
Children under the care of Agape are encouraged to achieve their full potential and some pursue university level education. For children past the age of 18, Agape built a home with a few apartments where the children can learn to live on their own and also learn a trade under the guidance of Agape’s staff. This adjacent home houses a pastry bakery, a carpentry shop and a general store, all run by the Foundation staff and students.
